Medical Corps members are individuals who have studied medical-related courses and are serving in health fields such as hospitals and clinics during their participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. It’s important to note that their allowance is different from that of other corps members.

The current NYSC allowance for all corps members, including medical professionals, is N33,000 per month. This amount is the same across all states and applies to every corper.

However, it’s worth mentioning that Corps members’ Place of Primary Assignments (PPA) and the state they are deployed to may provide additional stipends, but the amount varies. It is important to note that these additional stipends are not provided by the federal government and are independent of the N33,000 monthly allowance.

For more information on NYSC allowances specific to each state in Nigeria, you may want to refer to the relevant sources.

It is true that some states and Place of Primary Assignments (PPA) may provide additional allowances to medical Corps members, including doctors and other health professionals, in recognition of their specialized skills and the nature of their work. These allowances are separate from the regular NYSC allowance.

The rationale behind these additional allowances is that medical Corps members often have demanding responsibilities and may be exposed to higher risks, including the possibility of contracting dangerous diseases. Therefore, certain states and PPAs choose to provide extra compensation as a way to acknowledge their dedication and the challenges they face in their service.

It is important to note that these additional allowances are not uniform across all states and PPAs, as it depends on the policies and decisions of each individual state or institution.
