The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) is the federal agency responsible for the administration of prisons and correctional facilities in Nigeria. The NCS was formerly known as the Nigerian Prison Service (NPS) until it was renamed and reformed in 2019 by the Nigerian Correctional Service Act.

The NCS has two main divisions: the Custodial Service and the Non-Custodial Service. The Custodial Service is in charge of the custody and rehabilitation of inmates, while the Non-Custodial Service is in charge of the administration of non-custodial measures such as community service, probation, parole, and restorative justice.

The NCS has a hierarchical structure of ranks and salaries for its officers and staff. The ranks are divided into two categories: commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers. Commissioned officers are those who have a degree or diploma from a recognized institution, while non-commissioned officers are those who have a secondary school certificate or equivalent.

The NCS salary structure is based on the Consolidated Paramilitary Salary Structure (CONPASS), which was approved by the Federal Government in 2007. The salary structure reflects the level, rank, and years of service of each officer. The salary structure also includes allowances such as transport, housing, uniform, hazard, and furniture.
