NIN for NYSC Registration

In this blog post, I will explain some important things to know about the NIN and how it relates to the NYSC registration.

1. The NIN does not affect the age used for the NYSC registration: This means that the age provided by JAMB is still the one used for the NYSC. If you are above 30 years old, you will not be eligible for the NYSC service, regardless of your NIN. However, if you are below 30 years old, you can still register for the NYSC service, even if your NIN shows a different age.

2. The surnames on the NIN and JAMB profile should match: This is to avoid any discrepancies or errors during the NYSC registration. If your surnames do not match, you should visit the nearest NIMC office or enrollment center to update your NIN details. You can also use the NIMC mobile app to make changes to your NIN information.

3. This does not apply to married female PCMs who have changed their names: If you are a married female PCM who has changed your name after marriage, you do not need to worry about matching your NIN and JAMB surnames. You can use your marriage certificate or affidavit as proof of name change during the NYSC registration.

4. It’s important to stay calm and not panic about the details on the NIN: Some PCMs may have experienced some difficulties or delays in getting their NIN or updating their NIN details. This is understandable, as the NIN enrollment process is still ongoing and may face some challenges. However, you should not let this stress you out or discourage you from registering for the NYSC service. The NYSC management has assured that they will accommodate all eligible PCMs and that they will not disqualify anyone based on their NIN status.
