If you are a Nigerian graduate who wants to serve your country, you may have heard of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program. This is a one-year mandatory service that aims to promote national unity, patriotism and skills development among young Nigerians.

However, not every graduate is required to participate in this program. Some graduates are eligible for an NYSC Exemption Letter, which means they are exempted from the service and can pursue other opportunities.

This is a document that shows that you have been exempted from the mandatory one-year service due to age, health, or other reasons.

Verifying your NYSC exemption certificate is important to ensure that it is genuine and not forged. It can also help you avoid any problems when applying for jobs, scholarships, or other opportunities that require proof of your NYSC status.

There are two ways to verify your NYSC exemption certificate: online and offline. In this blog post, we will explain both methods and provide you with the steps to follow.

Online verification method

The online verification method is the easiest and fastest way to check your NYSC exemption certificate. You can do it from the comfort of your home or office using any device that has internet access. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Visit the official NYSC certificate verification portal at
  • Click on “Proceed to Verification” to initiate the process.
  • Enter your correct NYSC email address and password.
  • If you have forgotten your password, click on the “Forget password” link to recover it.
  • If you are a new user, click on the “sign up” link to register on the NYSC portal.
  • After entering your email address and password, click on “login” to verify your certificate.

If your certificate is invalid, you will see a red message that says “Certificate Verification Failed”. You will also see an error code and a reason for the failure, such as “Invalid Certificate Number”, “Certificate Not Found”, or “Certificate Revoked”.
