4 Things You Must Do After NYSC Orientation Camp

Before leaving the NYSC orientation camp, it is important to collect your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) posting letter from your platoon officer. This letter contains the location and address of where you have been posted for your PPA. In case you were unable to collect it in camp, you can also print it online. Additionally, if you had applied for relocation during camp, you can check your relocation status online.

On the last day in camp, which is the day to leave camp, you may see some corps members traveling back to their homes. However, it is advised not to join them in traveling unless you have applied and gotten approved for relocation, as that is the only valid reason for leaving after camp. If you did not receive relocation, it is important to stay and complete the necessary steps after camp, as outlined in the post.

1. Collect Your PPA Posting Letter

Collect your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA) posting letter from your platoon officer before leaving the NYSC orientation camp. This letter will indicate where you have been posted for your PPA. If you did not collect it in camp, you can also print it online. Also, if you have applied for relocation during camp, you can check your relocation status online.

2. Report to Your PPA

After obtaining your posting letter, report to your PPA as indicated on the letter. In case your PPA is far from your orientation camp, you can go to the Corpers’ lodge or any community house for the night and report the following day. If you are not satisfied with your PPA, you can learn how to change your NYSC PPA. Note that your PPA will provide accommodation, but you can stay at the Corpers’ lodge temporarily. If you are unable to report to your PPA immediately, you can lodge at the Corpers’ lodge and report the next day.

3. Report to Your LGI Office

Submit the acceptance or rejection slip/letter from your PPA to your Local Government Inspector (LGI) office. If you are rejected by your PPA, do not proceed to step 4 until you are reassigned to another PPA by your LGI or Zonal Inspector.

4. Enjoy Your 2-Week Leave

Once you have completed the first three steps, you can go and enjoy your two-week leave. This is an opportunity to visit your home and spend time with your family. However, before you travel, you need to write and submit a leave application letter to the NYSC state Coordinator through your LGI.
