NYSC Requirements for Foreign-Trained Graduates

For Nigerian students who pursued their education abroad and wanted to participate in the one-year mandatory NYSC service. There are some requirements they need to meet and documents they need to provide before they can be eligible to join the program.
NYSC Requirements for Foreign-Trained Graduates
1. Contact Information:
- A functional email address accessible to the graduate.
- A Nigerian telephone number for registration purposes.
2. Accredited International Institution:
- The institution where the graduate studied must be accredited.
- Verification can be done through the Federal Ministry of Education. A letter of verification must be uploaded during registration.
3. Document Verification:
- Graduates whose institutions or courses are not listed on the NYSC Portal should obtain an evaluation letter from the Federal Ministry of Education. This letter should be forwarded to the NYSC for upload.
NYSC Required Document for Foreign-Trained Graduates
Foreign-trained graduates need to visit the NYSC portal and upload the following documents:
- Original O’level certificate (WASC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, IGCE, GCSE, High School Diploma, or its equivalent) with five credits, including Mathematics and English, in not more than two sittings.
- Original Degree/HND certificate or its equivalent.
- Original Transcript of Degree/HND Certificate or mark sheet (For Indian Universities).
- International traveling Passport showing data page and date of departure for the course of study.
- Visa page showing date of departure for studies and date of return to Nigeria after studies.
4. Additional Requirements for Specific Professions:
- Medical doctors, optometrists, pharmacists, nurses, and medical laboratory scientists have additional requirements related to their respective professions.
5. Graduates with Dual Nationality:
- Upload data pages of both international passports.
- Present the passports for verification at the Camp.
6. Residence Permit (for Graduates from Institutions within West African Countries Only).
Requirements for Replacing Lost Academic Credentials
In case of misplaced academic credentials, graduates are required to provide:
- Police Report.
- Sworn Affidavit.
- Confirmation of result from either the examination body or the institution of graduation.
Important Notes:
- Certificates must be written in English. If not, they must be translated at the embassy of the country of study or any Nigerian university where that language is studied.
- Avoid mistakes during the submission of requirements to prevent disqualification or rollover.
By meticulously adhering to these requirements, foreign-trained graduates can navigate the NYSC journey seamlessly, ensuring a smooth transition into their service year and contributing meaningfully to the development of their homeland.
