What is NYSC Record Number and How to Identify It

NYSC Certificates Verification Guidelines [Online & Offline]

The NYSC Record Number, also known as the NYSC Certificate Number, is a unique identification number that appears on the NYSC Discharge Certificate.

This number is assigned to each NYSC Discharge Certificate as a way to distinguish it from others. It can be found at the top right corner of the certificate, just below the year of service.

What is NYSC Record Number?

The NYSC Record Number typically starts with “A00” and is followed by seven (7) digits. It is essential to note that the NYSC Certificate Number is distinct from the NYSC Call-up Number and should not be confused with other identification numbers.

How to Verify NYSC Certificate Number

To verify your NYSC Certificate Number, there are two methods:

Online Verification:

  1. Visit the NYSC verification portal at https://verify.nysc.org.ng.
  2. Click on the “Proceed to Verification” option.
  3. Enter your username and password.
  4. For existing users, log in with your credentials. If you’ve forgotten your password, there’s an option to reset it.
  5. New users can sign up on the portal.
  6. Click “login” to initiate the verification process.

Please note that online verification may require a fee of Two Thousand Naira (N2000) for the service.

Offline Verification:

  1. Write a formal letter requesting the verification of your certificate number addressed to the “Director-General, National Youth Service Corps, Directorate Headquarters, Plot 416, Tigris Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.”
  2. Ensure the letter is marked “Attention: Director (Corps Certification).”
  3. Attach a photocopy of the certificate you wish to verify to the letter.
  4. If you’re verifying multiple certificates, number them sequentially and attach the corresponding photocopies.
  5. Submit the letter to the NYSC Director General’s Registry located at the 6th floor of the NYSC headquarters (Yakubu Gowon House).
  6. Include your contact details such as your address, email address, and telephone number in the letter.

It’s important to note that the NYSC can only verify Discharge Certificates, Exemption Letters, and Exclusion Letters. This verification process helps ensure the authenticity of these documents and prevents the use of fake NYSC certificates.
