A lot of people think writing a relocation letter is not essential or does not play a role in the approval of relocation request. That is not entirely true. Application for relocation or redeployment is not available for everyone, the NYSC Board directed that must a concrete reason why you wish to relocate from your current state of deployment.

The board stated that application for relocation or redeployment due to health/medical issues, martial and security reasons will be approved. If your reason is not related to the aforementioned reasons, you may find it hard to get application approved. Therefore, ensure that you have a genuine reason for applying for relocation or redeployment, and make sure you have all the necessary documents available to back your application up.

What documents do I need to apply for NYSC relocation?

Also, listed below are the necessary documents you are expected to attach to relocation letter to process your application.

1. Marital Grounds

This applies to married female corps members that wishes to relocate to the state of residence of their husband. If you are applying for redeployment or relocation on the basis of marital grounds, you will be required to provide the following documents:-

• A formal letter directed to the NYSC Director-General
• Your Marriage certificate
• A change of name published in one or two of the national newspapers
• A formal letter from the husband stating his state of residence.

2. Health/Medical Reasons

If you have any reoccurring illness that requires you to be closely monitored by your medical doctor, you can apply for NYSC relocation or redeployment on health/medical grounds. However, you will required to provide the following documents:-

• A medical report from an recognized medical institution (preferably government hospital)
• The medical reports must state the actual medical conditions.

3. Security Reasons

If you are in any of the states that are affected by the Boko Haram insurgents, NYSC has made the appropriate provision for any corps members who wants to serve outside the states that are considered volatile/war zone in Nigeria.

Requesting for relocation on the basis of security grounds is only done during registration in the orientation camp.

How To Write NYSC Relocation Letter

One thing you should keep in mind while writing NYSC relocation letter is that it should be kept short, concise and straight to the point. It should be formal with two addresses.

The addresses I believe will be provided to you at the the orientation camp. However, should in case you are not given the addresses, the following samples should give you insight on what you will write.
